Wyndham Rose Hall Resort 07/24/02
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Wyndham Rose Hall from July 15th - July 22nd. We had a great time. I was kind of skeptical at first because of the reviews I had read about this hotel. Many reviews were consistent when it talked about the credit card mechanism for the all inclusive patrons, the murky beach water, and since this is a family resort being ran over by all the children. On a scale of 1 - 10 this is my honest opinion / rating about this resort and all it has to offer. Hotel / Rooms- 8 (We had to switch rooms once we got there because of a cleaning issue, but the next room we received was just fine with an OK view. The hotel overall is very nice, just eat something before you check in because you may be in that line for a while.) Beach - 5 (Yes, the water is very murky. So if you are a water person, like we are, you won't really like it; however, we did go swimming and kayaking there. There was no good snorkeling at the hotels beach, but I recommend taking the Negril Sunset Tour, we did our snorkeling and Jet skiing there.) Food - 8 (Buffet - what can I say, it's a buffet. They have two restaurants Three Palms and Luna' (I think that is right, It's an Italian restaurant) Three Palms was GREAT the first time we ate there and So - So the second. I didn't like what I ordered at Luna' so I don't think it would be fair if i tried to give my opinion about that restaurant. However one thing I didn't like was that in between the hours of 11 - 12 , 5 - 6 or 6:30 and after 11pm, there was no food to be found on the premises. My advise, don't get stuck hungry in between those hours. At times the credit card did become a hassle but not enough to ruin our trip. Pools - 10 +++(We stayed in the pool hours at a time, sometimes we did not get out until 8:30 / 9:00pm. We loved the lazy river.) Golf Course - I am not a golfer so I can't give my honest opinion. It looked nice and well manicured, it even streched down to the beach. Entertainment - 7 (My boyfriend and I are 25 & 26 with old souls, so we were in our room by 12 every night. However, they did have a club called the Cricket that stayed open until 2am and served drinks until then. They had something there every night.) To all of the Honeymooners, you will not notice the kids. And there is a Gazebo about ‡ a block down the beach, this is a nice and secluded place for the two of you to just lay around and listen to the waves hit the rocks below. Very picturesque. I also recommend taking the Chukka Blue Safari, WONDERFUL - better then climbing the Dunn's River falls in Ocho Rios and take the Luminous Lagoon tour as well.
