Beaches Sandy Bay 08/03/02
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
Although this resort is smaller than some I've visited (130 rooms), it was not lacking in class or activities. Actually the smaller number of rooms made the beach, bars, water sports, & restaurants less crowded than other places. The beach is excellent and very accessible from all rooms. The pool was small and somewhat crowded, but I didn't go to Negril for the pool. The best thing was probably the water sports, which were always available and had great instructors who helped you learn if you were a beginner. My wife went snorkeling for the first time and was very scared, but an instructor held her hand and took her out in the reef and she was able to enjoy the beautiful sights. The main drawback was that the food was marginal at the buffet and the grill was out of jerk chicken most of the time so they had hamburgers which were awful. But you had the option to dine at no charge at Beaches Negril, which we did on occasion. Overall it was an excellent value and we will be returning. We have also visited Couples-Ocho Rios and Boscobel Beach-Ochos Rios and we liked Negril the best.
