Sandals Montego Bay 10/09/02
Reviewers Rating: Fair
My husband and I visited Sandals Montego Bay as a special treat on my 40th birthday. The first thing we noticed on arrival was the beautiful beach, and the lovely gardens of the resort. We were shown to our rather dull looking room, which was in need of decoration. The staff were very friendly and helpful, although the initial welcome made us feel as though we were intruding. We were put in a room and told to wait there. Fifteen minutes later we were still waiting for someone to tell us what was happening. The resort was very lively. Too lively for our liking, with the young clientel screaming and shouting, creating what was a disturbance. We later went to one of the shows which was excellent, and this was the pattern for most of the shows during our two week stay. I think however they should drop the art auctions which were on most nights, as no one seemed interested in paying over the odds for what were basically prints. What really let this resort down though, was the food on offer. There was little variety, and the food was very bland and tastless. Most of the food on offer was fast food. Burgers and Nachos are not what you look for at a 4 star establishment. The drinks were mainly locally produced, and on the occasions we asked for a premium brand spirit, we were adverantly informed that they had ran out. All in all our two weeks were a huge disappointment, and I feel we could have had better value and a better time elsewhere.
