Sandals Montego Bay 10/09/02
Reviewers Rating: Fair
Sandals resorts claim to be the ultimate all inclusive resorts, and pride themselves on the standards of food accomodation and entertainment. After my vacation at Montego Bay, I am left wondering how they can make such claims. The resort was nice enough, a lovely beach with several small jetties with Gazebos at the ocean end. Even the swimming pools looked clean and inviting. However after the first impressions, reality steps in. Our first visit to one of the restaurants, left us looking for another restaurant, as the food at the first looked disgusting. We tried all the restaurants during our visit, and the overall verdict was that the food was inedible. If you wanted to live on cakes and pastries or even Hot Dogs and Fries for two weeks, then you would be fine. If you want something more appetising forget it,unless you choose to eat outwith this hotel. The resort was in need of a good clean, and the work surfaces in the bar areas were all sticky and in need of a wipe down. Bar service was poor, and premium drinks were scarcer than flying pigs. The majority of staff were friendly, but looked as though they would rather be somewhere else. Our expected free diving was also ruined, due to the fact that the dive boat continually broke down, resulting in trips being cancelled at the last minute, and your day was ruined as it was too late to arrange anything else by the time you found out the diving was cancelled. All in all, a very poor show. At the beach party when the head man introduced the guests to almost every staff member and informed the guests of how good these staff are at their jobs, I felt like telling him a few home truths. Poor food, poor entertainment, poor hygeine, poor value for money, what more can I say. I only marked 1 because 0 was not available.
