Starfish Trelawny 10/24/02
Reviewers Rating: Good
My husband, son (age 11) and I returned from Starfish Trelawny on October 19 2002. The resort is just as it claims to be. It is a moderate resort. I would like to rate between good and great. The rooms are very clean, if a bit small. The floors are tiled so there is no smell of mildew. Too bad the bathrooms were not renovated when the resort was re-done earlier this year. Ours certainly showed its age, but was completely functional. The food was pretty good, with chicken, rice, pasta, potatoes, another choice of meat, salads, fruits, bread and Jamaican dishes for lunch & dinner. Breakfast had the usual fare, plus Jamaican dishes. The main dining area for buffet meals) is very much like a cafeteria. We ate in the Gourmet restaraunt twice. The food was excellent. There is a surcharge for most things, although it is possible to have an entire meal without extra costs. No children under 14 yrs allowed at this restaurant. We also ate at the Italian restaurant. A charge of $6.00us for each person (including children) applied. It was nice for a change too. The four pool areas are super-clean. There were a few activities organized at the pools, like water volleyball and water aerobics. The waterslides were great fun too. Each afternoon had a family fun activity but not alot of people participated. The beach area was constanly being cleaned as well. We were disappointed that there were not alot of activites just for kids. There were quite a few at the resort. That was one reason we picked this resort as it is being promoted for families. The kids club had mainly very young toddlers and babies. The evening entertainment was really not to our taste,(local bands, dancers) but many people enjoyed it. In closing, I would say that we were satisfied with the Starfish Trelawny. Ruth C
