Fun Holiday Beach Resort 11/04/02
Reviewers Rating: Great
I went to Fun Holiday in Negril August 26-Sept 6 for a vacation. This hotel is nice, if you are on a budget. I saw the hotel online at Negril.com and booked a room immediately without asking anyone about it. I knew it was a smaller hotel on the beach, but that is about it! The hotel is fairly new, but it's not the Ritz-Carlton or a plush Sandals property by any means. It's a 2 story building situated just off the beach. I could see the beach from my balcony. The room was very clean. It had 2 double beds and a nice dresser with 6 drawers and mirror. The room had A/C, big bathroom with one sink. Also had a TV with cable. There was a balcony that had two chairs. The hotel room had tile floors and the housekeeper kept them swept and mopped daily. The hotel has a beach bar with outdoor seating for their restaurant. There is an enclosed area that you can sit in too, but no one sat in there! The bartenders are very generous with the drinks and they have specials on their drinks.. 2 for 1. Also the seafood there is GREAT! Lobster is 2 for 1 and a very large portion! You can watch the sunset from the bar. The beach area is OK -- I would have liked to see it racked better. They have white lounge chairs for you to lay in and get sun! They rent out jet skis at the watersports shack but that is extra. They have a beach party a couple days a week but when I went, it was the low season and they did not have anything going on. They do have music piping out through their music system all day and in the evening. The hotel is situated right in the middle of the 7-mile beach. You can walk either direction of the beach and find something going on. They are right next door to Roots Bamboo and a little walk to Alfred's --both those places are where there is something going on. Across the road is the nightclub The Jungle.. it's very, very nice! Thursday is ladies night -- you get in free. It's normally very busy Thursdays-Saturdays. I have stayed at all-inclusives in Jamaica but I prefer this hotel for the times I like to experience the town more. I can eat anywhere or drink anywhere in Negril. I didn't spend any more than $300 on food and drinks my 10 days there..For the price of the room, I would highly recommend this place. I am returning for a 7 day trip at Thanksgiving and can't wait!! E-mail me if you have any further questions about this hotel!
