firstly sorry that this review is so late.we went to jamaica in july of 2002,this was our first trip away and i have to say i was totaly blown away with how beutiful this island is even if we did arrive to a rain storm.the drive to club ambiance took about 1hour and fifteen on the way we stopped at a little jurk hut for a drink which was a releaf and cheap.when we arrived at the hotel we were greated with fruit punch,which my wife became addicted too,booking in was quick we,had requested to be upgraded via email before we left,and when we got there they had done it for us which was a nice supprise although to be honest you dont get any better quality of room just a very pretty view.we went with air tours and our first excursion was to the black river,firstly the bus arrived one and a half hours late,so we hadn't eaten thinking we would miss the bus,anyway on the way they stopped so that every one could eat and where did they stop for our first breakfast in Jamaica?Mcdonalds.which was dissapointing to say the least especialy when they didnt even sell beef burgers!to cut a long story short out of a twelve hour day trip you spend about 3 hours max out of the bus,to say i had a numb bum and my life flash before me with the driving several times is an understatment.Anyway back to the hotel,the hotel itself and it's staff are great you are constantly looked after we had a waitress called vynette look after us for all 2 weeks and she was amazing nothing to much trouble.the evening etertainment was good on some nights but the houseband does get repetative after a week.the food was also very good always a wide selection to choose from even my wife found things to eat!the drinks were in now way watered down in fact they tend to get stronger during the day,even a strate coke seems to end up with rum in it.while we was there we got married,everything was organised very nicely,if you get married here i recomend you have gary photograph you and richard film it these two totaly bounce off each other and make you so at ease all the way through it and the quality of both photo's and video are very good.the beach was small but yet big enough for the amount of people there, the fish life in the little cove is unbeleivable and you have to do the snorcal trip they do,it's amazing you swim out about 40 -60 meters and you get to see turtle's,ray's,eals,a ship reck and puffer fish.we met a few people while there and i would like to say a big thank you to sam and caroline who were witnesses for us,a group of us went to margaritaville in ochi and we had a taxi driver called chris who works from club carribean this man is a top bloke who we used for day trips to ochi,we told him what we were interested in looking at and buying and he took us to places introduced us to people in the shops and i have to say this bloke saved me a fortune,he even took us to a little bar in the town where we had a few drinks and a couple of games of pool.the only few down sides to our stay we thought was the fact that some times some of the activities that are meant to be happening never do,as i mentioned the evening entertainment was a little dissapointing at times,and also that the bars closed at eleven at which point you have to go the hotel disco bar to get a drink,on one night this didn't even open which did upset a few of the guests.we also found that after a week every body was getting a little bored and was ready for home.but i have to say that if you're looking for a nice hotel with varied food and good drink and excellent staff,where you want to relax,this for the money is for you.in short we loved our holiday here and would return anyday and i still get emetional thinking that i'm sat here and not over there.if you have any question feel free to email me and i'm sorry about the long review.
