Wyndham Rose Hall 01/29/2003
Reviewers Rating: Great
Just returned from Ja stayed 1/23-1/28 @ Wyndham Rose Hall. Did go all-inclusive. Overall my wife and I had a good time (except for the three days of non-stop rain) more on that later.
FLIGHT- Air Jamaica Philly to Mobay 7:20 am. At the airport 2.5 hours prior to flight. Short line to check bags. No problem. Longer line(25 minutes) to clear security. Everone took their shoes off. But no problem. Flight was on time, half full, and uneventfull.
CUSTOMS/IMMIGRATION-collected our bagsand went through both without delay.
TRANSFER-as we exited a rep asked where we were staying, showed us to the counter, we gave our vouchers and were showed to the bus. Waited for a few more people, and we were off. 20 minutes later at Wyndham.
CHECK IN-3or4people infront of us on line. But checkin was smooth and our room was ready.
ROOM-nice,clean, veiw of the waterpark(could be noisy during the day/quiet at night) side view of the ocean. Bathroom was fine, clean good water pressure/hot water.
FOOD-fair. Buffet at breakast the same daily, but good. Lunch @pool grill/mangoes burgers/fries good. Buffet dinner okay nothing spectacular. Ate at Luna Di Mare that was good, worth the surcharges. no problem with getting a reservation.
WATERPARK- this was great!!!! Waterslides/lazy river, floating in tubes fun for little kids and grandmothers. Other pool small not used much quieter, but plenty of chairs
BEACH-just okay. IF you want miles of unending beaches this isnt for you. Golf course on one side, jetty on the other, kinda hemmed in. Water a little cloudy from waves churning up sand, some seaweed, worse after three days of rain. Plenty of chairs here and at the pools.
KIDS-this is a place to bring kids. My wife and I dont have any, I am generally intolerant of them, but they didnt bother me a bit. Kids of all ages infants-teens. Probably worse during holidays.
DRINKS- not watered down, Red Stripe on tap. Service was slowed at times because of the charge cards, but mostly because there are not enough blenders a each bar.
CHARGE CARDS- we went all inclusive and so should you. Sure you have to sign for everything which seems silly when it will all be paid for in the end but isnt that disruptive. Food prices listed were for those payiing ala carte(they still had to charge it to the room and settle at check out) prices were expensive 16$ US PP for breakfast buffet/ @25 $ US pp dinner buffet. Beer was $4.07 US, blended drinks $6. Soda 2.50
HASSLES- no one once hassled us, not at the airport, not on the beach. no one offered us pot(frankly I was offended). Some pot smell at the hotel(I think in the roon next door).
Didnt leave the resort though. It rained for three days without stopping. Seemed silly to go anywhere in a torrential downpour.
OVERALL- i would go back and recommend it
