Merril's (1) Resort 04/23/2003

Just returned from Merril's 1 in Negril JA.
As a many time visitor to Jamaica I feel this resort complex is a poor choice for a few reasons.
Food: Very poor selection of fresh fruit or vegs.The buffet was the worst I've ever been offered in Ja to date.We ate at other places to avoid it.
They are not even trying to serve a regular Jamaican basic buffet...very poor cook and no budget for meals I guess.
Couldn't make a decent Jamaican soup or porridge...easily found at most resorts...even the bad ones like this place.
Can't get anything to eat before 8am...I guess the're hoping you'll go some where else by then???

The Rooms:
Also small but clean...sort like a cheap roadside motel...too cramped for me.

Merril's II is much nicer looking but offers the same Bad Food.

Overall:
By the time you buy some of your meals off the resort...this is no longer a great deal.
My Opinion...try somewhere else.
