Couples Swept Away Negril All-Inclusive 02/11/2004
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
We went to Couples Swept Away (CSA) 9/5/03-9/13/03 to renew our wedding vows. Our best friends Rich and Ann and our two 28 year old boys Mark and Paul accompanied us. Our vacation was set up through Berwick Travel and our agent was Kelly Spanier. All the arrangements were made over their website. Their price, service, and attention to details were superb. We flew direct from LAX to MB. The plane was only half full both ways. Made for a much more enjoyable flight. We have been to Jamaica 5 times and always traveled in June. Flights were packed. From now on, it will be 2 weeks before Memorial Day or right after Labor Day. Arrived early Saturday morning and the Couples Rep was at the airport waiting for us after clearing customs. Rode in a nice 15 passenger van with a/c. It took us a little over an hour to get to CSA from the airport. Nice, comfortable ride with some mellow reggae music. After our bags were unloaded, we were given nice cold towels and glasses of champagne. Check in was quick and efficient. The couples had beachfront rooms and the boy's were in a garden room. The rooms and patios were fantastic. No TV’s in the rooms which was not a problem. They did have a big screen at the sports center which gave us enough of a fix. The beach was very long and wide with plenty of chairs and mats which also served as floats. They had 3 beach bars and waitress service on the beach. All were great and the service was fast and friendly. The weather was clear and sunny during the day (92) with a short rain shower in the late afternoon. Evenings were in the high 70's. They had a/c, a ceiling fan and screened wood louvered windows. Even the patio had a ceiling fan with a nice long couch, huge coffee table, and cushioned rattan lounge chair. Our renewal ceremony was set for Tuesday so we were scheduled too meet with the wedding coordinator, Tamika Jones at 10 a.m. on Monday. We picked out the flowers, location (beach at sunset), picture package, wedding cake, reception area, and made dinner reservations for after the ceremony. This took about an hour. Couldn't believe it! Tamika is really well organized and sets your mind at ease about every little detail. She came to our suite at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday with the flowers and escorted us to the beach. What a great location for a ceremony. There was a path nicely raked in the sand and delineated with large bamboo poles and cloth heading down towards the water where there was a flowered arch. The minister was really nice and accommodating as we each wrote our own vows. The music that was played was very nice and appropriate. The ceremony was very emotional and fun and it went as exactly as we had envisioned it. The reception was held on the second floor of the main dining room which overlooked the wonderful pool and ocean. The photographer and videographer did the whole ceremony and reception and then took us down to the beach for some unbelievable photos. The video and photo's were ready for us to review on Friday. They were fantastic! We ate at Feathers (their formal rest.) for our after ceremony dinner and all of us agreed that it was one of the best meals we had ever had. The food at the resort was incredible. The water sports equipment was all top notch and well maintained. We used the fitness center everyday and it rivaled some of the gyms we used in the states. They had entertainment nightly which was well coordinated and attended by most of the resort guests. One night they had a beach bbq with local entertainment and it was a blast. We hired a private tour service, Errol Cox who owns Errol Flynn tours to take us to Mayfield Falls. These falls blow Dunn’s River away. This guy was so great that I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone. His van was immaculate and he provided red stripe beer, water, and his special homemade rum punch. He was so informative and sensitive about his country that we felt he was a human history book. The sound system in his van was out of this world. After we did the falls he took us for a ride around the surrounding towns, turned us on to juicy patties and played some great reggae. We all about cried when he dropped us off at the resort. We had all become great friends over the period of 8 hours. Other excursions were walking down the beach to Margaritaville, cabbing to Rick's Cafe so we could jump off the cliffs, and going to Pirates Cave for snorkeling and red stripes. The service, grounds, rooms, food and staff were the best. In closing, we have stayed at Sandals Dunn River twice, Sandals Negril once and while they were okay, CSA is by far, better than them all!
