Royal Decameron Montego Bay 01/15/2005

(not be be mistaken for Runaway Bay resort). From the time we arrived right until the end of our vacation, we could not find fault whatsoever with this resort or it's people. Actually aside from the resort itself, the people made our vacation what it was - and that was terrific !!! The Royal Decameron has gone under extensive renovations and it certainly surpasses a 3 star resort. Not quite a 5 star, but certainly a 4. The rooms were wonderfully decorated and kept meticulously clean. We had a problem with the air conditioning one day, and it wasn't 5 minutes when the maintenance people arrived to fix it. No problem ! It has the most gorgeous view over the ocean, matter of fact all rooms have ocean view. The food was excellent and if somebody had a complaint then they would be extremely paticular and I doubt anyone could go hungry. There was always a wonderful selection of main dishes along with vegetables and of course, huge platters of fruit. We didn't participate in many activities the hotel offered, mainly because we just wanted to relax and soak up the sun. They offered, volleyball, ping pong, horseshoes just to name a few. Night shows were entertaining and some of the singers the hotel brought in were top notch and could belt out music like professional singers ! I think that the staff of this hotel were absolutely outstanding and the Royal Decameron should be darn proud of them. They were always checking up on us, making sure our drinks were topped up or taking away dirty dishes from the table - never did we wait long for anything ! We did the Dunn's Falls tour which is a definite must. Even though the drive was a bit long, it was worth the drive and the experience will never be forgotten. It was beautiful and challenging !! We did walk the hip strip which was also alot of fun and the locals were interesting people to chat with. One note, should anyone want to hire a private cab, I would strongly recommend you seek out Yannik, waitress in the buffet restaurant. Her husband has his own taxi and would be more than happy to show you the sights and you would never have to worry about being ripped off or mislead in any way. All in all, this trip was one of our best and we will definitely make Jamaica our number one destination for vacation.
