Royal Decameron Montego Beach 02/13/2006
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
We stayed at the RDMB from Feb.4-11/06. The resort is: very clean, close to the airport, overlooking the ocean and the food is good. There is one specialty restaurant and one buffet. There was enough choice for even the most picky eater. The bartenders are all friendly and drinks are not watered down. While we were there I would estimate that the clientele was 85% Canadian, 10% U.S and 5% British. Being just five minutes away from the airport you could watch the planes as they approached the island, however the noise was not bad at all. The beach is rather small and is divided into areas, but there was never a problem finding lounge chairs and sun tents even late in the morning. There are 2 pools, a larger one which has a pool bar and was used for activities, and a smaller one. The resort staff were friendly for the most part and the nightly entertainment was quite good. While in Jamaica we hired a private driver for 2 days in order to see some of the country. We were delighted with Chef Thompson. He found out what we liked and then took us to some amazing places, and explained a lot of the island's history to us. We also did the Martha Brae rafting trip, which lasts about an hour and a quarter. It was great fun and our raft captain kept us entertained throughout. So, in summary the RDMB is a great hotel with good food, warm friendly staff and a five minute drive from the airport. We would definitely return.
