Villa Coral Guesthouse, Vieques 04/14/2007

The Villa Coral Guesthouse is on the island of Vieques, in the little southern coast town of Esparanza. It's about a 10 minute walk down to the Malecon, or boardwalk, and of course a 10 minute walk back UP (good for settling the food and drink!)
There are 6 rooms in this newly-renovated house and each is decorated in Spanish tile and up-to-date decor. A covered deck with loveseats and tables (and small bar) wrap around the house and is great for evening reading. It's on the hilltop, so the breeze makes it feel perfect! Also, guests have access to the rooftop deck, which will soon have a whirlpool, grill, and bar.
There's no phone or TV in the room, which we loved. I can't remember the last time I went a full week without TV (SAD!) There was a mini-fridge, ceiling fan, and A/C unit. We only used A/C 2 nights, because I got a bad cold and needed the air, and not a breeze.
Mireya and Annette, the owners, could not have made our stay any friendlier. They let us have a cooler and beach chairs for the week, and helped whenever we had questions. For $75/night the Villa Coral Guesthouse seemed to make the beach sands that much whiter, and the water that much bluer! Highly recommended. (The only reason it got 3 stars and not 4 is that on the first night something set the neighborhood dogs OFF to barking, and then at 4:30AM the garbage truck made it's rounds! Otherwise, the barrio was nice and quiet.)
