Puerto Rico Hotel & Villa Reviews

Wyndham El Conquistador Resort & Golden Door Spa 05/03/2006
Reviewers Rating: Great
Typically, I do not write reviews when I get back from a vacation but for the El Conquistador I felt I must. Before we left on our trip, I was scared from all the negative reviews about the hotel. I was worried it would not be up to par. Overall~ We had a great time. I like the hotel, I like the service. People were kind and the place was nice. Everything was in well working condition. It is not a 5 star hotel but if you are going to Puerto Rico to play, have fun and relax on the private beach this is a great place. Palomino Island was fantastic~ Beautiful beaches, nice boat ride etc. Great snorkeling!!
The room we were in first did not have the best view and we asked for a different ocean view room and they moved us right away. The rooms did smell a bit musky but I think that is to be expected in Puerto Rico~ everywhere we went smelled musky. We brought some candles and after having the doors open a bit the smelll went away. The decor was not fantastic and the couch was not comfy but we did not spend a ton of time in the room.
The hotel is enormous be prepared to do some serious walking and tram rides. I am still sore :-)
I've seen alot of complaints about price.... it is true, this hotel is pricey BUT EVERYTHING in PR is. We went to Walmart and that was expensive! It's like this all over PR since everything must go to a port in the states taxed and then sent back...we pay for it! I think this was the biggest shocker for me.
If you go and you have trouble~ say something, make them fix it. This is true for anywhere you go.
