St. Kitts & Nevis Hotel, Resort & Villa Reviews
Marriott 04/30/2003
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
4/30/2003
My wife and I have just returned from a week at the recently (Feb)opened Marriott. The facility itself is beautiful (4 stars)nice rooms, great pools, beautiful views ( be sure to go up to observation tower on sixth floor). The problems are at the restaurants and service areas. The breakfast buffet was weak. Flavorless eggs, pancakes that you could barely cut with a knife, unripe fruit, orange juice from carton, waffles never available. Does not compare at all with Aruba or Curacao Marriotts. We tried dinner buffet once and food was equally poor flavorless and dry.The staff appears to have had very little training and service is slow, even worse at the pool area. Hopefully with time these problems can be corrected.
Beaches are not the strong suit in St Kitts. There is some fairly good snorkling right in front of the Marriott and a bit north in the reefs on Half Moon Bay. Shitten Bay also has fine snorkling but can be reached only by boat.
I will be curious to see if the Marriott ever is able to get the golf course up and running. Nine holes are scheduled to open in June but the other nine is no where near completion. And once opened maintaining a Carribbean course is another matter with heat , salt water air , and lack of water all problems. Should they pull it off it would add tremendously to the resort.
