Hotel Reviews: St. Lucia
Wyndham Morgan Bay 3/25/00
Reviewers Rating: Good
We spent 11 days there and found the resort very clean, room service excellent and the grounds well maintained. Unlike some resorts there were more than enough chaize lounges on the beach. The beach was small and water too murky to bother snorkling. Even though the resort is all inclusive, like most others, people still want to give small tips but this is discouraged in favor of donating to a christmas fund. I think this results in service being inconsistent. We found most staff to be efficient but don't really go out of their way. Most just do their job. This unlike other resorts we have been in. The food was good and we found the TradeWinds restaurant very good in presentation although, again, the service was routine. At breakfast you were seated and had to hunt down a waitress for additional coffee. The bands were varied with a number of different types from steel drum to small combos that provided better than expected entertainment. The liquor was varied and not just bar brands. Although there was just one main bar, the service was usually no problem. The water sports were available at all times and more than adequate. Rides were short but no limit on the number of times so that was fine. If people enjoy seeing weddings, it seemed like it was "four o'clock , must be time for a wedding". I think there was one most days we were there and allowed for an interesting break at the end of the afternoon. In summary, lots to do away from the resort and it is a good base to be at, but I think the resort would be well served to allow minor tipping and encourage staff to be more attentive. Word among staff was that most are applying for work at the new Hyatt when it opens - that must say something for their satisfaction.
