Excellent
We stayed here for 14 nights in early December 2000 and had our best ever holiday! We would rate the hotel as follows:
Accommodation:
Although the room was clean, comfortable and a decent size (Garden Room) it could not be described as luxury. Plus points however were extras not always found in hotel rooms e.g. an iron and ironing board, tea making facilities, dual voltage and sockets.
Food / Drink:
This was truly superb! The nightly buffet in the terrace restruant is constantly changed and has regular themes e.g. indian / chinese / caribbean. Ensure you visit the Trysting Place (formal restraunt) - the food is beautifully prepared and the staff are wonderfully attentive. You almost forget you are not in a top class restraunt it is that good. Another favourite was the beach party barbeque - a truly al fresco experience.
In contrast to what it says in the brochures, if you wish to you can drink 24 hours a day. There are lots of premium brand drinks. The cocktail list is only limited by your imagination and you can even drink wine by the bottle rather than glass.
Entertainment:
On the whole this was superb. Favourites included a carribean drum band and a regae band. The staff and guest show is not to be missed and is great fun.
Staff:
They were out of this world - we simply cannot rate them highly enough. The restruant/bar staff were always attentive and pleasant. The receptionists were very helpful. The watersports staff were experienced, patient and approachable and at no time seemed annoyed at our poor attempts at windsurfing etc. The entertainment staff were fun to be around (we made lots of very real friends)but knew when to coax you to join in e.g volleyball and when to leave you sun-worshiping.
Several times during the holiday members of staff went out of their way to make our holiday extra special e.g one took a group of 5 couples to the friday night jump up on his night off and ensured that we all had a wonderful time which will never be forgotten; another night two of the staff took a group from the hotel to the local nightclub and ensured we had fun, again this was on their night off.
Watersports:
These were freely available subject to red flag conditions. A special mention goes to the Scuba Staff - as a novice I was terrified but felt reassured by the expertise of the staff - and was able to dive off a nearby reef (the instructor did not let go of my hand once throughout the dive off a nearby reef and contrary to my fears I felt very safe).
Weddings:
Although we did not marry here, we met lots of couples who did. All were impressed by the care the staff took to ensure all went well. On average there are two well spaced weddings a day. Tip: The steel band added something special and is worth the extra cost.
Overall opinion:
A good quality hotel with exceptional staff. Excellent value for money. Ideal for younger couples and those who enjoy a fun atmosphere. Can't wait to return.
