Hotel Reviews:
St. Lucia
Rex St. Lucian 11/03/01
Reviewers Rating: Great
Stayed at the Rex in October 2001 on all inclusive package. Fantastic location - beautiful beach and spectacular views of Pigeon Island. Easy access to all local restaurants and bars (very safe to walk around at night) and local ferry and cab services. Stayed in poolside room - very spacious and adequately decorated and far enough away from pool area and activities not to be too noisy! A/C drowns out all outside noise anyway! There are safety deposit boxes in the rooms available at a daily charge but the ones at Reception are free and easily accessed at anytime.
Food was great, really good choices for everybody including vegetarians - even got afternoon cakes! The all inclusive was superb value. Got bored of eating in the same restaurant all the time though and spent most of 2nd week eating out.
Nightly entertainment included steel bands, limbo and various musical ensembles as well as crab racing! Something for everyone and the moonlit beach for walking at night was idyllic.
Excellent range of watersports and good snorkelling - there is a small reef near the beach. There is also a small but well-equipped gym. Massage services are also available.
Good range of little shops in hotel with comparable prices to elsewhere on the island. There is also an excellent ice cream parlour with locally made ices - very tasty!
Staff very friendly and helpful and the daytime activities are very non-intrusive to those not wishing to participate.
All in all an excellent medium class resort.
