When we arrived after travelling 18 hours, it was fantastic to be met by incredibly friendly staff with ice cold facecloths and a very refreshing fruit punch. They sent us to our rooms with a form to be handed in the next day to eliminate any "stress" booking in at reception.
Within 24 hours the staff not only knew our christian names (there were 4 of us) but also knew what our favourite drinks were! Our first impressions from then on just went from strength to strength.
Our garden view rooms were adequate if a bit small and could do with a bit of a face lift but as we were hardly ever in them - it made not the slightest difference to us. We had clean sheets and towels every day and the maid had been in by 11am. The mosie net over the bed ensured that we were never bitten in bed by insects although we all got insect bites each evening (a fact of Caribbean life?)
The food, service and staff in the Trysting Place are hard to put into words - what's better than "brilliant"? We were treated like pop stars! Angie the waitress and Dane the wine waiter have a wicked sense of humour and made us feel very special indeed. Service in the Terrace restaurant particularly at breakfast was often questionable but lunch was fine and we had no complaints.
We did the try dive in the pool and the ocean and immediately signed up for the PADI course, the Dive Team were fantastic. They made the course interesting and fun and the patience they showed me in particular was deeply appreciated. Julie (our teacher)even held my hand when I went down to 30ft for my certification! They cannot be faulted.
The beach is lovely, plenty of sun beds for everyone and the watersports staff were always great fun and again very patient.
Both the ladies in our party had massages, the staff again were wonderful and very experienced, the treatments were well worth the money.
We never used their flag system as we were always close enough to the bar to get our own and we enjoyed a laugh with the bar staff at the same time.
Both pools are lovely, again with plenty of sun beds for all. The two hot tubs are nice (particularly at night) but could do with bubbles! There were usually clean towels to exchange as long as you didn't leave it too late in the day to change them.
The entertainment staff co-ordinators do a wonderful job, they make you feel so relaxed and special. They encourage you to join in the activities but if you say "no" they never push it! We spent many a night with them in the Piano Bar which really doesnt close until the last guest leaves! We felt sorry for Kim who run the bar the 2 weeks we stayed as he had many a late night!
The evening entertainment on the whole was quite good, the themes change daily and sometimes the co-ordinators put on shows along with the guests usually with great fun.
All in all, our holiday far exceeded our expectations mainly because the main co-ordinators namely Alvin, Dino, Giselle and Anna made it so special with their humour, sense of fun and sheer hard work. If I had to make improvements I would ask for a facelift for the rooms, more comfortable sun beds and maybe more toilets as it was often a long walk from the beach when you'd been drinking at the pool bar.
