St. Lucia

Myself, my husband and 12 year old son and his friend, just returned from a fantastic holiday at the Hyatt in St. Lucia. I would highly recommend this beautiful hotel. Since it was just recently built, it is in pristine condition. The grounds are lovely, with lush landscaping and everything is within easy walking distance. The main pool is a series of connecting pools with bridges and a waterfall and just beyond is a bar and restaurant and then the beach is right there. We were always able to get a chaise at the pool or beach and never felt overcrowded. The sea is calm and inviting and the beach is a lovely stretch of sand dotted with straw thatched shade umbrellas. The service at the Hyatt was always very accomodating and friendly. The food at the breakfast buffet and beachside cafe was delicious, if somewhat expensive. Our only dissapointment was the evening entertainment or lack of. Live music was available in the lobby bar, however it was not enough to entertain our group. Even so, I would gladly return to this resort and the gorgeous island of St. Lucia. (Review originally submitted on April 18, 2001)
