Hotel & Resort Reviews:
St. Lucia
Jalousie Hilton 05/17/02
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
A few rants and raves. The raves first. The scenery is spectacular. The Pitons are quite imposing. The villas are charming and larger than expected. The grounds are steep so walking is usually restricted to a downhill journey, but the shuttles come quickly when called so the size of the property is not an issue. Despite the negative reviews, the food at all the restaurants is very good as were the various buffets. The downside is that the food is pricey for what you get. Go to Dasheens at Ladera, the food matches the spectacular view.Rants: We went during the “dry season” and naturally it rained every day. That’s not the hotel’s fault but when you take away the beach there is absolutely nothing to do on this island. You’re a $90.00 cab ride, on a road that would make a kamikaze squeamish, from Castries where the supposed action is. Soufriere is a dump that is populated by beggars. You literally cannot go a block without somebody bumming money. All in all, I’m glad I went but after 4 days of just lying around a beach we became buggy and there is just nothing to do on this island.
