Hotel & Resort Reviews: St. Lucia
Club Splash 07/21/02
Reviewers Rating: Great
After booking our vacation and then reading the reveiws we were a little nervous. For honesty the 6/29 review is very good. We stayed at the Hummingbird Village, which I would suggest. The grounds were lovely and very private. Club Splash was about 10-15minutes from Virgie airport in Castries and seemed to be more secluded than other resorts we saw. We stayed at the resort for 7 days and took a 1 day excursion to Ane Chastines. The biggest hassle was waking at 8am to insure you had resteraunt reservations. The Jade Vine was the hardest to get into, we had reservations for 9pm, but what else did we have to do!! The rooms were adequate, we only slept in them and spent the other time at the pool/beach. The resort is full of families, so if children or teens bother you I wouldn't suggest it. The staff was extremely friendly and we had no problems. The tips I can leave are this:

Remember you are on vacation and you need to let go of the normal trappings of life.

Take plenty of water proof sunscreen.

Bug spray (the resort will spray your room everyday upon request).

Request your phone line on and an iron if needed.

Kayak or walk over to Smugglers Cove (around the left bend of the resort- it is very secluded and pristine).

St. Lucia is a pretty place, the water is a deep blue/green and the sand is not as prestine as other places. Approx. 2-3ft off the beach the sand is full of rocks. The lush rain-forest atmosphere and coconut trees are pretty. The Lucians are very willing to please and love to carry on conversations. It was a great vacation, but we have other places on our list to visit...Returning in maybe 10 years, we would stay at Club Splash again. We found it interesting that a couple in the airport were very unpleased with Sandals, so I think the best review or advice is everyone is different and you need to always take things with a grain of salt.
