Hotel & Resort Reviews: St. Lucia
Wyndham Morgan Bay 07/30/02
Reviewers Rating: Great
This was my first visit to the Caribbean. My wife has been to Jamaica and Antigua. Having read previous negative reviews, sadly some are true. The buildings look slightly tired. The beach is still very nice, but it is not a typical caribbean beach. The sand whilst soft and light, mixes in the sea to give it the brown colour, hence the name Choc Bay maybe. The rooms are as good as the pictures. The swimming pool is too small. The food is good and reasonably varied but 'samey' after 2 weeks, only 2 restaurants. Tradewinds is always fully booked but always half empty! Palm Grill involves queueing after 8pm again even when it is only half full.More restaurants needed perhaps? Evening entertainment sent most people to bed by 9pm. Excellent cocktail drinks and free house champagne. Most staff are very friendly, but if you do not rattle off your bar order in one go, some barmen were quite abrupt. I had to remind them who the guests were! Watersports and boat trips are excellent.

My wife has been to the Wyndham in Jamaica and she believes the Wyndham Morgan Bay is a notch down.

Rumour has it that it has just been sold because the Morgan Bay is not quite up to Wyndham standards. It is still a very good value for money FAMILY resort but if you have been used to top quality caribbean resorts, think again you will be slightly or very disappointed. As for me it was still great as we have four children, as a couple I would have been more disappointed, so I look forward to trying the even better caribbean resorts.
