Hotel & Resort Reviews: St. Lucia
Club St. Lucia by Splash 10/18/02
Reviewers Rating: Great
I have read so many reviews in every possible place before I left for St. Lucia and found this site to be the most helpful. I read lots of positive reviews and lots of negative reviews. I guess the one thing I have to say is, you are on vacation and if you want a nice resort 5 or 6 star resort then don't choose this place. It's a 3 star resort and it is that for a reason. Some of the reviews I read said something about bugs in the room, we never once had any problems with bugs in our room. We were in the whispering village rooms and our rooms were very nice, tiled floor cleaned everyday with a big king size bed. Our tv was a little small though, but who needs tv when your on vacation. Some people said they had problems with the sewer smell and yes I do agree with that, there were some places around our rooms on some days the smell was worst then others depending on the weather and the wind direction, it wasn't so bad you couldn't stand it, but you could tell it was there. I thought the pools were great, they were cleaned every morning and night and I did not think that they were dirty like some people did. They had 4 pools and a hot tub. The resturants were great, the one thing I did not like was there was not always food to eat there were gaps between eating times and you may not be able to eat at certain times which was a hassle when you were very hungry. The buffet always had good food. Italian resturant was our favorite the food was great. Chinese was ok, but not a real big fan of chinese anyway. The American Grill was not that great I didn't think the meat was either not done or done too much, we only ate there once. The resturant settings were not that great either they were all outside except for the chinese and ate on plastic tables and chairs. But again those were things that come with a star hotel. The people were very nice, they just LOVE to sign in St. Lucia and all are very happy and helpful all the time.

The beach was not what I thought the mountains in St. Lucia are very big and pretty so the beach is private and secluded with mountains on each side so you cannot see down the beach for miles on either side. Which was fine, but was a surprise for me. There is also another beach at the resort called smugglers cove it is no longer part of the resort since it go hit from a hurricane, but is the best beach of the resort. White sand and beautiful water, I would highly recommend it. You have to walk to get there or you can khake over or paddle boat. We did all our snorkeling over there is was awesome! The main beach was ok sand not as white as I would of liked and a little dirty, but not too bad.

We also took one tour called Tout Bauy it was AWESOME it takes you too all the main attactions of the island, the drive-in volcano, the rainfall, and the coco plantation. You take a boat ride down and then get off in a van to see the rest and take the boat back you also go through the famous rodney bay on the way back. It was great.

Overall our vacation was wonderful we had a great time and met some great people. Just a reminder to everyone this is a 3 star hotel not a 5-6 star hotel, but overall I thought it was definately worth the money and would not of paid the price difference for the higher one, just because I don't need a 5 star hotel to stay at.

Also on one last note one of the pools and the hot tub are adults area only, yes topless pool area and I thought that was great, this resort caters to a lot of families so it was nice to have an adult area only. But we did not have one single issue with kids at all, I think if you do have kids it's definately a great place to go they have a water slide and they do a FABULOUS job taking care of the kids if you want to do anything at all.

We did not go to any of the entertainment because it doesn't start until 9:30 pm and we were always too tired to go, but I heard the entertainment was ok not too bad.

In some previous reviews people had problems with stray cats and yes they have them, but it wasn't like there were tons, probably 4-5 cats at the very most that I saw.

The drinks were cold, I didn' think they were the greatest, but they did have a few good ones. Beer on tap is always good Heinken is great.

Enjoy your vacation St. Lucia is a beautiful island wonderful place to go. I will not be back to St. Lucia though as there are too many other places in the world to visit before I return.

ENJOY!

Rhonda
