Great
Six of us just returned from the Rex St. Lucian/Papillon and can't say enough good things about the trip. Arranged through Air Jamaica, the trip was wonderful from the beginning. We were treated to good food, champagne and wine on the flights, which were on time (except for one segment). The two hotels are separate in name only and there were people at the resort who paid to stay at the Papillon and who actully got rooms at the Rex. There was only one restaurant available for the two resorts most nights, the Mariners, but there was the Oriental Restaurant for those who wanted it and the Mariners Restaurant varied their food and location each night. One night they had dinner on the patio and another night they had dinner on the beach! The rooms were freshly painted, clean and comfortable and the only thing that showed the age of the resort was the old jalousie windows which were filled in with wooden slats, and the bathroom fixtures which were beginning to show their age. There was plenty of water and water pressure and the bathrooms were kept very clean.
The beach was clean, pretty and nice for swimming. We had a handicapped member in our party and she had no problem getting in and out of the water there. The grounds were well kept and well lighted.
There were two pools and two jacuzzi's or hot tubs which were neither hot or well jetted but no one seemed to use them anyway.
As far as I can tell, the only bad thing about the facility is its website which doesn't show the property to its advantage. We had first booked at the Club St. Lucia because of its nice webpage but changed when I read some reviewswhich were less than flattering. After visiting there, I was delighted that I hadn't fallen for their great webpage and that I had overlooked weak webpage of Rex Resorts and had booked their anyway. Will I send my cliets to St. Lucia? Yes, it's a beautiful! Will I recommend the Rex St. Lucian/Papillon? You bet! It's centrally located, has good food, nice staff and clean rooms on a beautiful beach. What more could one want!
