My wife and I honeymooned here in early October and had a great time.We were originally booked for Sandals Golf Resort, but opted for Ti Kaye because of the unique experience we felt we'd get. Boy were we glad. After listening to locals, seeing the resorts, Sandals was just way to packaged. Plus, we saved money by not going all-inclusive, saw most of the island. I'm very glad we stayed in the Southern part of the island, as I believe it is much more scenic.
The resort itself was very secluded. It was located near the fishing village of Anse Le Raye in the southern part of the island. The road to the resort was a bit rough, and took about 10 minutes to tackle.
The resort consisted of individual villas, ours was an Ocean Front. Basically the villa was a large bedroom with minibar, walk in closet with safe, bathroom, outdoor shower, and deck with hammock. It was very private, and nice to lay on the hammock and look over the Caribbean. We didn't really have a good view of sunsets from the porch, as a large tree blocked most of the view. The villas had the option of being open air, or a/c. The windows were louvres. We left the windows open in the day, but in the evening did the AC. It would have been too muggy to sleep.
The beach at the resort, Anse Cochon, was great. Very good snorkling within feet from the beach. In fact, the beach itself was really quite private. Most times, it was only my wife and I on the beach. Sure, the beach vendors were there, but they were not overly pushy. Catamarans would daily stop at the beach in the early afternoon to let there guests off to swim, snorkel, etc. This really didn't even bother us until Sunday, when the catamaran stopped with a enormous group of locals on a party/booze cruise. The music was deafening, and we had an unpleasant run in with two locals that decided to lecture us on U.S. politics and racial inequalities. They were drunk and the conversation was nonsense.
On to the resort restaraunt. It was great. Breakfast was included, and could be anything from cereal to fruit to omelettes. Lunch for us was a quick sandwich, flying fish, saltfish, ham and cheese, burger, etc. Dinner menus changed daily, with new entrees, soups, salads and appetizers. The chef's soups were fantastic. The dishes were nice local variations on familiar entrees such as snapper, lamb, etc.
The staff was excellent and very friendly. Janine, who manages the property was very helpful before and during our stay, as we made some changes to the itinerary. Darryl at the beach bar was also great. We enjoyed talking to him about all sorts of subjects.
Our package was an adventurous honeymoon package and included many tours, we did the jeep safari, day in soufriere (botanical gardens, torille waterfall and gardens, Jalousie Hilton, Ladera for lunch), sunset cruise, boat taxi to Rodney Bay for dinner, and Anse Le Raye Seafood Friday. The seafood Friday was great, especially for seafood lovers like myself. We ate soo much fish, lobster, octopus, lambi (conch), snapper, potfish, mahi, and countless other fish I can't even pronounce. Plus, Darryl took us to a local rum shop were we hung out and played dominos with some of the town locals.
This is already pretty long, but let me know if you have any questions, I'll try to help.
Again, we really enjoyed the island and the beautiful resort.
