Orchid Cottage 12/30/02

We recently spent 4 glorious nights at Orchid Cottage in Cap Estate. After negotiating the pot-holed road past the golf course, we found our way to Orchid Cottage, a one bedroom, very private guest cottage. Patrick, the gardener greeted us and we settled in quickly. With a large lanai facing the south for sunbathing, and a private plunge pool to cool off in, our days were complete. The panarama included the cove of Cas-en-Bas, a beach on the Atlantic coast. We explored it one day (the road is the worst!) and found a fabulous sandy cove, safe enough for babies (except for some baby jellyfish in one area.)The cottage also has a complete kitchen-living area, a large outdoor, flower laden shower, and a screened king-sized bedroom. We learned to shut the louvers in the kitchen at night so the wildlife stays outside (we had a visit from a manacoo, a possum-like creature) and to use either the wind or mosquito coils to be bug free in the evening. The kitchen is very complete, there are plenty of towels for the beach, and the staff will do laundry or cook for you if desired. Rodney Bay and its shopping, restaurants, beaches and entertainment are 10 minutes away so there's plenty to do. We also enjoyed Pigeon Island Park with its two small beaches and cute restaurant. Orchid Cottage is a perfect place for a couple to enjoy a romantic sojurn in paradise.
