Excellent
We had read some negative reviews about Sandals Grande a few days before we were leaving, which made us a little nervous. We were pleasantly surprised to see that many of the problems seemed to be cleared up. There were plenty of snacks available throughout the day, there was plenty of toilet paper, maintenance staff always arrived within 15 minutes when we did have a problem, and - even though Bill Clinton and the Prime Minister were going to be at the resort on Friday and Saturday, we were never inconvenienced. In fact, we never would have known they were there if the staff didn't think we Americans be excited to hear about it.The food at the restaurants was sometimes so-so, and the service was always slow, but this didn't bother us at dinner - we were there to relax after all. At lunchtime, however, we ate at Josephine's (the creperie) or had self serve pizza (delicious - different varieties each day) at BArefoot on the beach. This way we didn't spend time waqiting for food rather than sitting on the beach, swimming, snorkeling or otherwise enjoying ourselves.
We learned, after several meals, to ordercombinations of things from the menu to get a meal we'l rally enjoy. (The veal picatta from one dish, the spaghetti funghi from another for example.) We were able to tase many more dishes this way than ordering as-is. The staff was very flexible about serving tastes of entrees as side dishes or appetizers.
I highly recommend the catamaran trip to the Pitons, and I also recommend Sandals Grande. Yes, there were a few things that can be improved, but it's a young resort and they are working on constant improvement. After visiting the three Sandals on the island, the Grande would be my first choice, but I would make a point of spending some time at the other two for meals, and for the golf club snorkeling, which goes to a better site.
