St. Lucia Hotel, Resort & Villa Reviews
Poinsettia House on Marigot Bay 10/24/2003
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
I had gotten such a good price on airline tickets (L.A. to St. Lucia)that my wife and I decided to take our two daughters (both in their early twenties) along. To save money I decided to look for a house to rent and luckily stumbled upon Poinsettia House on the internet.
Marigot Bay is considered one of the most scenic in the Caribbean and Poinsettia House has the best view of anyone on Marigot Bay. In addition the owners - Joe and Eileen Jackson - provide a tremendous wealth of information that make all aspects of your stay easier and maximizes your ability to get things done while on the island. In addition it certainly is one of the best values on an island where nothing is cheap.
As a side note let me add I found the South side of the island (with the rain forest trails, Anse Cochon beach,Anse Chastenet beach, the Pitons etc) much more interesting than the more developed North side where the majority of the big resorts are. And unless you want to rent a car (bad, narrow mountain roads, traffic, driving on left, insurance liabilities) you will need more cash for taxis and Water taxis than you would on other islands.
St. Lucia is a fairly big island and with all the mountains you cannot get around quickly. And with so many things available for the traveller I recommend planning ahead and prioritizing the places to visit and activities you'd like to get done.
