Just returned from a week at LeSport. The time flew by and we wished we could have stayed longer. First a word of warning for anyone flying American Airlines through San Juan into George Charles Airport. The airport location is great, just 20 minutes from the resort, but American Airlines did not have luggage for about a third of the people on the flight including us. Luckily we always pack a swim suit and evening clothes in our carry-on but a couple on their honeymoon that took the taxi to LeSport with us was not as lucky. We did not receive our bags until 10pm the next evening. Everyone we talked to at the resort and on the way to the resort seemed to know that this was a common problem. Wish we had been warned. Be sure to pack for a couple of days in your carry on if you fly AA. We were in room 335 and had a beautiful view of the ocean and Pigeon Point (rooms 333 - 337 had the same view). The room has nice marble tile and the bathroom was covered in marble and very nice. This is our 4rth trip to the Caribbean so we expect some bugs and mildew and were pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness. I always bring a candle and linen spray to take care of any musty odor. The air condition seemed to struggle a bit. It was cool but never cold and the thermostat does not really work - it just blows cool air constantly. It was fine for me but my husband was a little warm at times. In the middle of the night I would get a little chilly and pull the comforter up. My only disappointment was that the room got sandier as the week went on - I don't think they did a very good job of sweeping daily. The beach is small (maybe 300 yards) but it is certainly large enough for the resort. The only time we had a problem getting a spot was a Saturday when we did not make it to the beach until 3. The pool at the resort is small and could use a resurfacing but we never use the pool anyway so it did not bother us. The beach is not quite as private as advertised. All beaches in St Lucia must have public access but the locals were all friendly and never a problem. More importantly none of them were vendors. The food was generally good - sometimes great sometimes so-so but generally good. We have had better food at other resorts - but the snugness of my pants is proof that we did not go hungry. Breakfast was pretty much the same every day - made to order eggs and pastries, meats etc on the buffet. My husband was disappointed that there was not a beach grill to get a quick burger and fries. During the day you had to go to the buffet from 12:30 - 2:00 or eat at the health food oriented Deli. They did serve afternoon tea from 4 - 6 in the Club House. Cariblue was good at night and we liked TAO although the presentation was more interesting, the Cariblue food was similar quality. The Club House Bar B Que was actually very good and you can eat there dressed however you like. The scuba diving right off the beach was really good. There are two different sites off the beach. The left side has more colorful coral but not as many fish. The right side is where Sandals brought their snorklers and divers about 4 times a day. Less coral but a ton of fish. We really liked Curtis and Melissa at the dive shop. There was usually one beach dive and one boat dive a day. The boat dives were extra ($25 for one tank $85 for 2 tank) we went to the Pitons for our boat dive which was great because you really got to see the coast of the island and the famous landmark up close. The spa treatments were nice. They were not the reason we chose the resort and I may have been a little disappointed if that was why we went to LeSport. The armotherapy massage and Coconut and Spice Combo were fabulous. The Swedish massage and facial were good. I thought my husband was going to kill me after the Thasso Wrap (not for the modest!) The hair and scalp treatment were disappointing, we shared a room and a technician so it was really only a 25 minute treatment. The resort is very quiet and laid back which is what we prefer. The entertainment at night was minimal although we did stay a couple of nights and had drinks and sang along at the piano bar (it is heavily air-conditioned). There was a wide range of ages and couple as well as groups of singles. I think they may turn the Club House into a dance club later in the evening but we never stuck around to find out. We were able to stay up with goings on at home through the internet and never missed not seeing a tv for a week. All in all we had a wonderful trip. There is a ton to do and yet we did very little and never felt restless. It was a relaxing and romantic vacation for the two of us.
