Talk to Me Cool Spot 03/26/2004
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
I feel very stronger about staying at places owned by St. Lucians. The island has a 48% unemployment rate, and it is essential to get $ into the hands of natives--not multi-national corporations. My husband and I stayed at Talk to me Cool Spot in Soufriere from March 14th to 21st, 2004. It was a delightful place. The location was excellent. Michael and Andrea, the owners, were helpful in many ways. They provide a nice place for an excellent price. The comfortable beds with bright linens all had mosquito nets. The bathrooms are simple, but ther is hot water and they provide nice thick towels. We had all our breakfasts on a terrace overlooking the town of Soufriere and right in line with the beautiful Gros Piton. Michael owns a taxi and can provide airport transport. Soufriere is a great location because you can see the rain forest, volcano, botanical gardens, cocoa plantation, take a full or half day sail with Mystic Man Co. down in Soufriere harbor, and take the local "bus" (really a 12 passenger van) up to Pigion Point National Park for a day of swimming and hiking, climb the Pitons. If you're in Soufriere on Saturday, you can walk down from Talk to Me and go to the colorful local market. A lot of Europeans stay there, and it was interesting meeting their other guests. It's a homey little spot, and we were very content there.
