Spent 1 week at the GC Beach Club from 8/3-8/10/00. A wonderful vacation and a lovely location. Though not an ultra luxury place, it is quite comfortable, and friendly. We'd definitely go back.Located right on the water, between the northern part of Grand Case Beach (very thin, and partly submerged at high tide) and Petit Plage, which are separated by a small point (the location of the resort's restaurant). This turned out to be a great asset while we were there because it was moderately windy; however, one or the other of the beaches was always shielded from the wind and blowing sand. The beach/pool staff was very accomodating, and chair/umbrellas/towels, and all non-motorized water sports are included in the room rate (snorkling equipment, small sailboat, paddleboat, kyaks).
Rooms are spacious and have kitchenettes. The cleaning staff was good, and kept the rooms well looked after. Continental breakfast (coffee/tea/cocoa, O.J., baguette, croissant, and sweet rolls) come with the room, and is served in the restaurant overlooking the beach (or in your room, if you wish). A full breakfast menu is available for extra charge (about 35FF for an "American breakfast"). We never managed to eat dinner in the hotel's restaurant, though we had lunch one day. The meal was fine, but not memorable, though in fairness, we didn't order anything memorable (burger and a salad). Some of the more elaborate entrees looked interesting and would have been a better gauge of the restaurant.
We usually walked into Grand Case in the evenings to make the difficult choice of where to eat that evening. The hotel is located down a short dirt road that forms the northern extension of the "main drag" (such as it is) of the town. (Although there has been much talk about crime against tourists on St. Martin lately, we never felt unsafe, even returning well after dark.)
