This is truly four stars, but is it worth it? After coming to the island for over 10 years, we decided to lux it up at stay at this world-renowned hotel. Yes it is truly spectacular- the rooms are immpecable, the service accomodating, the beach brethtaking, and if you want somewhere to blow your savings, this is it. It still hurts to think about how much the rooms are and to think that really, in the end, we have had just as good times at other, less expensive and less exclusive hotels on the island. With your room price, you are hooked into eating two meals at the hotel restaurant, which means you can explore the famous dining scenes of the island less. the food is great, but after a few days you long for the variety of outside the La Samana exclusive world. All and all, if you research where you stay, you can have just as nice a room, just as gorgeous of a beach, better food, and just more fun and exploration if you stay elsewhere.(Review originally posted on March 16, 2001)
