My husband and I stayed at Pelican for one week and found it to be a reasonable place to stay. The security is always walking the grounds, so it had the appearance of being a safe place. We stayed in a studio unit overlooking the bay, a wonderful view. The kitchen was clean but very little to cook and eat with, we found ourselves limited to spaghetti being that it's simple to cook. The studio was very clean,we saw no bugs in our unit.
The queen size bed was actually two doubles pushed together.
The pools were not very clean so we didn't swim on the resort.
The tennis courts were nice.
The construction was not noticed by us at all, we heard no noise. The beach at Pelican is man-made and not one of the best on the island for sunbathing or swimming, but perfect for watching the sunset each evening.
It is important to remember when booking at the Pelican, it is a time share resort, not a hotel. You won't find any of the perks you would normally at a hotel.
The staff are more interested in selling time shares than they are running the resort.
