Mont Vernon 03/30/2003

We stayed at the Mont Vernon from the 16th to the 23rd of March 2003 and had a wonderful time, contrary to a review posted just a couple of weeks earlier by another guest. The resort offers a St Martin Pass that is a terrific deal. You get a rental car for 4 days and the opportunity to dine at four different restaurants in Grand Case, Marigot and Orient Beach during the week. The remaining meals are at the Mont Vernon.
Rooms at this hotel are very spacious and clean with spectacular views over Orient Beach. Staff, again contrary to the other review, were very friendly and courtious. Breakfast buffets had everything anyone could want. The 3 dinners we had were very good with unlimited wine. Steak night was particularly good. Lunches down at the pool restaurant were mediocre though and if you needed a drink in your hand all day, the pool bar was the only place you could go. So don't go if you're planning to drink everywhere you go at the resort.
This hotel is at the extreme "north" end of Orient Beach. The beach here (and just about everywhere) is fantastic. Light surf (for fun), very wide, clean sand, sparkling clear water. There was some nudity but hardly enough to be concerned about. Everyone took it in stride even the multitude of kids on the beach. So don't let that stop you.
We stayed at the Maho last year and this resort compared very favourably just for different reasons. We can't wait to go back.
