St. Martin/St. Maarten Hotel & Villa Reviews

Captain Olivers Hotel 02/20/2008
Reviewers Rating: Fair
We ‘ve read so many good comments about Captain Olivers that we decided to spend our weekly vacation In December. We were so disappointed !!! First of all, that resort is NOT A 4 STAR RESORT.
We asked for an Ocean view and we were placed all the way at the end of the property. The room was small and not worth the 170 $ we paid for per night. The Furnitures were in such bad condition.
The poor outside lighting at night made us feel so unsecure. I asked to the management if we could get closer to the Front Desk as the resort seemed to be empty, a lady made us feel that it would be a major problem to check in, in another room. We heard that the property has gone through a change in the management lately,
not for the better for sure.
Well, the overall service was quite POOR, the phone was not working properly,
Internet was not working, we were promised that it would work the following day and it did not work at all,
all week long, the Room was filthy, with a low light system, cheap TV, 1 American channel ( NASA ).
Looks like that they are on a budget there….
We had dinner at the restaurant once and once too many, when we stepped in we did not feel welcome, a young lady who seemed to be in charge did not bother to sit us at our table. She just pointed a table next to the water, she handed over 2 menus and told us, sit down and I will be right back. She never showed up.
The funny thing is, that it was not quite busy that night, 5 tables maybe six…
The food was ok, and again overpriced for the quality you get.
We loved the area, Oyster Pond is what we were looking for, away from the crowd. We had a chance to visit La Caravelle Hotel, a cute little Property overlooking Oyster Bay. That property is our recommendation with a 40% less expensive rate than Captain Olivers….
