Turks & Caicos Hotel, Resort & Villa Reviews Reviews
Allegro Resort Turks and Caicos All-Inclusive 04/17/2004
Reviewers Rating: Great
We just returned from a relaxing week in Turks & Caicos. I'm sad to think that Allegro is closing at the end of this month. We had stayed here in 1991 when it was the Ramada Turkoise Hotel.
The staff is doing it's best in light of the immenent closing and the food was good and plentiful even if not gourmet. I must say that only All-Inclusive resort that I've stayed at had gourmet food. This was the best of the buffet type AI.
The major complaint was that the maids removed the bathroom towels both clean and dirty at 9AM and fresh towels were not available until after 3 PM. However, having traveled in Europe and the Caribbean for over 30 years we solved our problem by stashing a couple of clean towels in a drawer. Some guests were complaining about the staff, but we saw no reason to complain. They were pleasant if not effusively friendly.
The Allegro was a bargain at half the price of Beaches Resort which is crawling with screaming children and on a much smaller section of beach. This is not a 5 star hotel, but then again they were not charging 5 $tar prices. Good value for money on a beautiful section of beach that was not cramped. There could've been more shade on the beach, but that was a problem in "91 when Ramada owend the property.
