Arnos Vale Hotel 05/02/2005

Just returned form a 2 week stay at the AVH.
I cannot fault the location of the hotel - it is STUNNING! Set in lush, well tended grounds that are bursting with beautiful flowers, trees and birds. The beach here offers excellent snorkelling and is very clean with free beach beds for residents.
The hotel itself has a grand history (apparently Princess Margaret stayed here in the 1960's) and retains an air of faded glamour....however, it would seem the hotel is resting on that history and is not working anywhere near hard enough for the guests of today.
The main restaurant is of average quality and is pricey if you are not on a HB/FB package. A meal for 2 here is over £50 / $500 TT and is not worth it. The pool bar has far more reasonable prices but the quality is dreadful and service to match! Also, drinks prices are astronomical.
Rooms are of a good size and well equipped and well serviced. AC works well.
