Tropical storm Ernesto slams into Cuba en route to expected landing in Florida

From the AP:

HAVANA (AP) - Tropical storm Ernesto slammed into Cuba west of the U.S. naval air base at Guantanamo on Monday after killing one person Haiti. The storm remained on track to hit Florida later in the week after regaining hurricane strength, forecasters said. Cuba ramped up emergency preparations before the fifth named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season moved ashore about 30 kilometres west of Guantanamo. Top sustained winds were about 70 kilometres an hour.
