Hurricane forecasters are watching tropical wave off Cape Verde
Things are relatively quiet out there. The Bradenton Herald notes the following:
MANATEE --
The waters around Florida are quiet today, but hurricane forecasters report this afternoon say they are watching a large tropical wave for development well out in the Atlantic Ocean.
This tropical wave is located about 375 miles south of the Cape Verde Islands, and is moving west-northwestward at 20 to 25 mph. But, "shower and thunderstorm activity associated with the wave has decreased," the National Weather Service reported at noon.
Because of this, development of the wave into a tropical storm "is becoming less likely," say the forecasters in Miami.
Other than the wave, the Atlantic, Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico appear to be clear of tropical storm precursors over the next two days.
