What is expected land fall of Gustov for New Orleans? In general, what is the condition of the sea a day after the hurricane moves thru - very rough, fairly normal, rainy?

I think it is way too early to know where this thing will end. Just look at what happened with Fay.

Generally once a hurricane moves through an area it is clear and dry almost immediately afterward - the hurricane tends to suck up any atmospheric moisture that is around. Here is the waper vapor satellite image: http://www.caribbean-on-line.com/weather/watervapor.shtml

Family on cruise to St. Thomas and St. Maarten. Back to Miami FL on Sunday morning. Will they experience rough seas due to Hurricane Gustav?

quote-icon-20.gif Anthony said:

It doesn't look like Gustav will affect that cruise, but there are other systems out there that might add some seas to the itinerary.

Hi. We are cruising from Ft. Lauderdale 9/1 to Key West, Belize and Cozumel return 9/6. What do you think? :)Thanks

It looks like you will be able to slip out of Florida before Hanna is too close - you never know though! I would definitely call whoever your are cruising with and make sure they are still on schedule. Sometimes they just alter the route to avoid these storms.

my family live in trinidad, will gustav affect them?

quote-icon-20.gif Anthony said:

Trinidad is a world away from this storm - no worries there.

my daughter is honeymooning in Costa rica, will it be affected by THe Hurricane Gustav?

quote-icon-20.gif Anthony said:

No - not even close - you are talking about almost 1,500 miles!

I am offered a job In UWI,Trinidad and Tobago,I am afraid to join because my friends say that there are too many hurricanes, earth quakes, floods etc?
I feel shaken to the root.
Is my fear right?

quote-icon-20.gif Anthony said:

Trinidad and Tobago are conventionally seen as out of the "hurricane belt" - they are far enough south that the chances of a hurricane there are much less so than in the more northern part of the Caribbean and the Gulf. I wouldn't let the weather get in the way of my job decision - it doesn't seem like it is a big enough deal to be a deciding factor. Island living and a new country/culture etc. would be much bigger factors for me personally.

We are going to tobago the 21st of september on a holiday, in that event we are thinking a lot of the hurricanes..... Is it safe to travel?? Thank you for yor answer!!

quote-icon-20.gif Anthony said:

We just answered the Trinidad and Tobago question above - the odds of storm there are much lower than other places, and there currently is nothing in the forecasts that seems to be remotely near those islands.
