how far is storm gaston
Posted on September 2, 2010 10:28 AM
Gaston is now just a depression, a remnant low. The NHC is not issuing updates on it at the moment as "Gaston" although it could reform:
1. CLOUDINESS AND SHOWERS LOCATED ABOUT 1150 MILES WEST OF THE CAPE
VERDE ISLANDS HAVE INCREASED OVERNIGHT IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE
REMNANTS OF GASTON. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS MAY BECOME MORE
CONDUCIVE FOR RE-DEVELOPMENT OF THIS LOW AS IT MOVES WESTWARD AT 5
TO 10 MPH DURING THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. THERE IS A MEDIUM
CHANCE...40 PERCENT...OF THIS SYSTEM BECOMING A TROPICAL CYCLONE
AGAIN DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS.

Hi - Scheduled to arrive in Holguin, Cuba for vacation from Sat. September 11th until Saturday, sept. 18th.
Any major storms, category 1 or greater, expected during this week??
Thanks!

D. it is really impossible to say - there are the remains of Gaston which appear to be re-organizing, and then something possible behind that. So far the storms that formed in the Atlantic have generally been north of the Caribbean island chain - but Gaston if it reforms appears to be headed straight into the Caribbean basin... you really just need to keep watching!
