Sorry for the late start but we are just back today to updating the hurricane blog and gearing up for the 2012 season. We have already had several named storms - a brief recap is below:
Tropical Storm ALBERTO - first storm of the season, popped up off the coast of Georgia, no effect on the Caribbean.
Tropical Storm BERYL - another Atlantic event, affected Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas, no effect on the Caribbean.
Hurricane CHRIS - way out in the North Atlantic, no effect on the Caribbean.
Tropical Storm DEBBY - a Gulf of Mexico storm, forecast to cross Florida and enter the Atlantic, but well north of the Caribbean and the Bahamas.
So 4 storms but nothing yet in our region - just a reminder of how big the area is that can be affected by tropical weather and that just because there is a "hurricane" somewhere doesn't mean that the Caribbean is under threat.
