 Currency:

The official currency of St. Lucia is the East Caribbean Dollar (EC$), although the US Dollar is widely accepted. The United Nations offers exchange rate information.

English is the official language of St. Lucia, but you will often hear a French Creole patois.

The 2008 census estimated the population to be 160,000.

 Transportation:
Taxis:
Taxis are readily available on St. Lucia, especially at the airport, the harbor and at most major hotels. Taxis do not have meters, but the rates for common routes are set by the government. For example, the rate from Vigie Airport to most northern hotels is $7-$15, and from Hewanorra Airport to Castries is about $50.
