The Stadium - A Work in Progress
The sports stadium in St Jean has been undergoing a major transformation thanks to Russian billionaire Roman Abramovitch, who recently purchased a villa compound in Gouverneur next to the beach. Abramovitch is also the owner of the British soccer team Chelsea FC and has spent an estimated 1.3 million euros to put artificial turf in the stadium and to improve the surrounding athletic track. Work is projected to be completed by the end of February. We can only assume that his soccer team will be practicing there and providing great entertainment to all the soccer aficionados of St. Barth.
