Postby KarenS » Sat Feb 25, 2006 8:19 am

As reported in Tropicalfete.com: "HAITI, It carnival time in Port au Prince Haiti. This years Carnival come shortly after election. Carnival provides an opportunity for Haitians to put away their differences and fete together. Haiti banned alcohol sales for Elections to stop the violent. Official are vigilant as the bans is lifted because alcohol is a major part in the celebration for carnival. Mas in Haiti is deeply rooted in African Culture. Revelers will wear white robes, mass cracked bullwhips amid the crowds as part of a ritual meant to chase away evil spirits.

Millions of Haitians will be participating in all night party dancing to Konpa music. The festival will culminate with a main parade on Tuesday."

Maybe next year there will be some tourists to enjoy it!
