Le Paradis Golf Course press release

Postby KarenS » Fri Jul 21, 2006 10:04 am

The ‘Shark’s Bight’ refers to the signature 14th hole of Le Paradis Resort and Residences’ new Greg Norman-designed championship course. The name plays off Norman’s moniker and the breathtaking jagged end of the Praslin Bay peninsula.

Perched on virgin rocky cliffs and amidst lush tropical foliage, Norman’s latest triumph is on par to become one of the world’s premier golf courses. The course offers cliff-side tee boxes and oceanfront greens, while the ‘Shark’s Bight’ beckons the bravest of golfers to drive into the island’s windward breezes and over the Atlantic Ocean to reach the pin.

“This is one of the most stunning, yet challenging holes I have ever designed,” said Norman, CEO of Great White Shark Enterprises, which encompasses Greg Norman Golf Course Design (GNGCD). “There are few places in the world so pure and untouched, and with land in St. Lucia rising 610 feet, the 14th hole offers serene vistas of the island with the innate difficulty of a water hazard.”

“With the course currently under construction and set for completion in November 2007, I am eager to see Greg’s vision come to fruition and for St. Lucia to become a premier golfing and residential destination”, said Kierron Dolby, developer of Le Paradis Resort and Residences. “The ‘Shark’s Bight’ is destined to become one of the most famous holes in the world.”

A spectacular 554-acre ultra-exclusive multi-phased luxury residential resort community, Le Paradis will be managed by Starwood-Westin Hotels & Resorts and will feature a first-class spa, 50-slip marina, premier restaurants, conference facilities, mixed-use components and much more. With Greg Norman’s acclaimed course framing the resort, the tropical paradise will be the premier address on St. Lucia and one of the most luxurious in the Caribbean. The course will be managed by renowned Troon Golf.
