Rapid ExplorerRumor has it that the Rapid Explorer will start again as of Feb 11, 2008 from Chesterfield Marina in Philipsburg to Gustavia. Someone from Premium IV, a destination management company in St Barth, checked with the Port Authority and they confirmed. The Rapid Explorer is a high-speed catamaran with airline-type seats and air-conditioning. The trip from St Maarten to Gustavia takes about 45 minutes. The Rapid Explorer stopped operations about a year or a year and a half ago do to engine problems. Having them in service again will be a welcome relief to the only other ferry, The Voyager, which takes 90 minutes from Marigot, St Martin and is infamous for its rough journey.
Ferry to St BarthsEverybody will understand that the message came than Rapid Explorer company... That's right that Rapid Explorer try to start again in 2008 but they stopped 4 months after (bankruptcy)for the second time. Concerning the Voyager ferries, they started in 1995 and they never stopped. For information, the 2 high speed ferries take only 40 minutes from St Martin Oyster Pond to St Barths...
