Most people with free time in Cayman usually head to the beach but a growing number turn inland instead. Away from the sand (though not from the sun) the Queen Elizabeth II Botanical Park lies at the heart of Cayman and is the venue for the National Trust’s bird watching tours.

Held once a month on Saturdays, the tour is a great way to see some of the less well-known creatures and features of Grand Cayman. Located on Frank Sound Road, the Botanic Park was opened by Queen Elizabeth II back in 1994 and has since flourished. The park is a haven for a variety of different creatures including blue iguanas and agouti - a rarely seen rodent often called ‘rabbit’ by locals. The park has also become a great place for bird spotting, an activity the National Trust is keen to encourage.
