Looking For Resort Suggestions

Postby MASHER » Thu Jun 22, 2006 6:44 pm

This will be my first time visiting Cuba. I plan to go the 1st week of January 2007 with my wife and 4 yr old daughter plus my 2 sisters and their significant 'others'.

We would like 4.5 or 5 star recommendations, that are kid freindly but not overwhelmed with kids running around. Day trips would be good as would a swim-up bar.

No idea about areas of Cuba so at this point open to suggestions.

Many thanks.

Mike

Hi MASHER
For the best chance at warmer weather, you should look to the south coast.
We were at Brisas Sierra Mar in Feb. '05 and the weather was perfect. At the same time some friends were near Holguin and froze. I wouldn't even think of Veradero for January.
There is no guarantee of good weather at any time but the Santiago De Cuba area is usually nicer.
Sierra Mar has a swim-up bar, horseback riding, snorkelling off the beach, scooter rentals and offers trips to Santiago, (extra cost). Very relaxed atmosphere and a great setting.
We are planning a return trip in January '07 with another family. Perhaps I will meet you at the bar.
Bigjohn.
